About Us

A Guide To Chrysalis Therapeutic Counselling...

There are many reasons why people start their journey with a counsellor

You are courageous to take the first step towards feeling better about yourself and your life. You might be recognising that your struggles with mental health are having an impact in all areas of your life, and especially your personal and professional relationships. You might have become distant and withdrawn; you may have noticed the impact your physical health, such as aches and pains, chronic fatigue, or stomach problems. Life feels like hard work when you feel down, stressed, or depressed. You may experience negative thoughts towards yourself or others, feel angry or experience disturbances in your sleep.

It's never too late to seek help...sometimes the first step is the hardest to take.

I am a trained professional who is unbiased and non-judgemental. My service offers a space where you can feel heard, safe, and accepted. The therapeutic relationship we build creates a foundation of trust, which allows you to speak about the problems or issues in your life; I will more often than not encourage you to talk through what is happening or ‘your story’, so you can develop a deeper insight into what impact these things are having on you.

How I work

I will often ask questions so that I can understand fully what it is like to be you, this allows me to imagine how it feels to walk in your shoes.  It might be that we at times explore the background to any struggles you are facing or feelings you have, so that you can gain understanding of what might be affecting you from your past, and therefore make the connection to how it is impacting on your life in the here and now.  This awareness will allow you to talk about any feelings attached to concerns or painful events and creates the opportunity for you to choose a different way of being and seeing things in the future.

I also offer a safe space for personal development. Some of my clients come wishing to develop a greater self-confidence and connection.  They find understanding of their own responses to certain situations which in turn allows them to move forwards more effectively in life with greater levels of happiness and connectivity.

About Me

My Certificates make me ‘qualified’ Therapist; however it is my openness to being human along with the growth I have experienced working with my clients which makes me the Therapist I am today. My journey to becoming a therapist came from the change I experienced after my own personal therapy.  We all face struggles in our lives, we are all human. I used to really beat myself up and often felt that I wasn’t good enough. For me; therapy really helped me to make sense of why I talked to myself so negatively, and why I beat myself up for things that are out of my control. It helped me to understand that I was living up to others expectations, rarely doing what felt right for me. I got a greater sense of who I am when I processed the things that had happened to me in my life and finally I accepted my vulnerability and humanness.

You will find that the therapeutic relationship you experience with your counsellor is like no other relationship you will have in your life. I believe Wholeheartedly that it is the deepening of trust within the therapeutic relationship as it develops between my clients and I, that is the key to the change they want to experience in themselves, their relationships and their Live's. Within the safety of this therapeutic relationship is a space which enables my clients  to trust in their own abilities to develop self-awareness to process, reflect, feel and connect to who they are, who they were, and who they would like to be.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, or to book a free 30-minute consultation, so that you can decide if I might be the right counsellor for you.
